Dutch artists in Paris 1789-1914

From February 06th through May 13th, 2018, be ready to discover a new and fascinating temporary exhibition at the Petit Palais, focusing on the great influence of Dutch artists on French artists in Paris between 1789 and 1914.

Organized thanks to a joint effort of the Van Gogh Museum, in Amsterdam, and the Petit Palais, in Paris, the exhibition brings together notable works by Dutch artists who had a powerful influence on Art in France, among them, Van Gogh and Jongkin.

The major artistic exchanges that took place during that important period in the history of French art between both Dutch and French artists will be put under the spotlight, on the occasion of this exceptional exhibit. Grand French names like Cézanne and Monet will also be present by their unique masterpieces along with many outstanding others including Picasso, Corot, Géricault, Millet, Boudin, David, and Signac.

Dutch artists in Paris” is where you will be able to compare works belonging to all of those artists and see clearly how various Dutch themes were represented in their masterpieces. You will also be able to distinguish their unique style of painting and the colors they used.
