There are many art lovers and critics in America that revere the work of Jean-Michel Basquiat. The young artist made a big impression on the scene in New York City with his commentaries on African American culture and conflict in America. His work was bold and beautiful and gave a voice to a minority that may have otherwise been overlooked in the art world.
The same art lovers and critics also continue to mourn the loss of Jean-Michel Basquiat. This creative young artist died from an overdose at just 27 years old. There is the sense that he packed a lifetime of work into his short years, pouring everything into that small period.
This is why his combined work feels like such an important time capsule of images and ideas. The great news for Parisian art lovers is that they can now come and see a vast collection of these pieces at the Fondation Louis Vuitton. The show continues until January 14th.
