The Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris will be holding, until August 21, 2016, a monographic exhibition entitled Paula Modersohn-Becker.
Featuring a great selection of the German painter Paula Modersohn-Becker, this exhibition is, in fact, the first monographic exhibition ever held in France in honor of this early expressionist artist.
Becker was born on February 8, 1876, in Germany. She moved to Paris, at the age of 24, where she attended the Académie Colarossi art school. Her career was not too long, as she passed away at a very early age. However, her work is today regarded by many among the finest and the most valuable works of her era.
The exhibition Paula Modersohn-Becker puts on view more than 100 pieces by Becker including self-portraits, paintings throwing light on the theme of motherhood and nature, as well as still lifes.
The exhibition Paula Modersohn-Becker at the Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris is curated by Julia Garimorth.
Guests staying at our Hotel de la Motte Picquet are within a short walking distance from the museum.
