Picasso : Blue and Rose
Posted in Museums / Exhibits le
When we say the name Picasso and ask people to describe his figures, many will immediately think of the distorted, Cubist faces. This is understandable, as this is the period that is arguably his most famous. However, there are pieces of work in Picasso’s catalogue that are much softer and more feminine. Some of these can be seen during his Blue and Rose periods. This idea of the Blue and rose period being lesser known is supported by the rarity of shows.
The new Picasso: Blue and Rose exhibition is the first time that a French museum has dedicated a show to the theme. Therefore, this collaboration between the Musée d’Orsay and the Musée national Picasso-Paris is quite a special event. The collection combines paintings and drawings of this short 6 year-period to help viewers better understand his different practices and ideas. The must-see show runs from September 18th to January 6th.
